Africa business interests at the gathering table of opportunities or manipulation?

After a decade plus in the entrepreneurial trenches, I've observed a few things about the African Business Jungle. Here is a summary of my findings:

  • Billions Flow In – But Founders Still Starve: Despite Kenya bagging 29% of Africa’s 2024 startup funding, most of it vanishes before reaching real founders. Where does it really go?

  • Support Systems Exist – But Are City-Centric: Kenya is innovative and awash with incubators, accelerators and a million business training programs and coaches but 80% of rural entrepreneurs still get left behind.

  • Tax Relief or Not? Kenya’s startup scene is smothered by process inefficiencies and archaic colonial models like taxing unpaid invoices which in turn cripples cash flow.

  • Foreign Investment = Fragile Lifeline: FDI brings growth, but volatile forex rates and political shifts often derail its impact.

  •  AI Looms Large: From Healthtech breakthroughs to $50k developer salaries, AI is quietly leading Africa’s Great Reset—could this be our great escape?
